Work With Corpus Christi Public Adjusters
If you're a Corpus Christi property owner facing a property damage claim, hiring a Public Adjuster can help protect your finances and keep your claim moving. Whether you're dealing with hurricane wind damage, storm surge and flooding, hail, a burst pipe, or a fire, a licensed Corpus Christi Public Adjuster can negotiate with your insurer and help you pursue a fair, complete settlement.
Understanding Public Adjusters
A Public Adjuster is a licensed insurance professional who advocates for policyholders, not insurance companies. A Corpus Christi Public Adjuster can help you interpret your coverage, file your claim, and pursue a fair settlement from your carrier. They handle residential and commercial property claims, and can also assist with renters' insurance claims.
How Much Does a Public Adjuster Cost in Texas?
Public Adjusters can be paid by a percentage of your settlement, an hourly rate, or a flat fee. Whatever the method, Texas caps a Public Adjuster's total commission at 10% of the insurance settlement on your claim. That 10% includes the adjuster's expenses and other costs, so there are no add-ons on top.
Your Rights Under Texas Law
Texas has strong rules to protect property owners who hire a Public Adjuster, especially after a hurricane.
- 72 hours to change your mind: You can cancel your Public Adjuster contract for any reason by written notice within 72 hours of signing it.
- State-approved contracts only: Public Adjusters must use a contract form approved by the Texas Department of Insurance.
- No storm chasing: Public Adjusters can't solicit you while a natural disaster is still in progress.
- No repair conflicts: A Texas Public Adjuster can't take part in repairing your property or profit from a repair, construction, or salvage firm working on your claim. Contractors can't act as your Public Adjuster either.
Are Corpus Christi Public Adjusters Licensed?
Yes. Anyone who acts as a Public Adjuster in Texas, or advertises as one, must be licensed by the Texas Department of Insurance. You can verify a Corpus Christi Public Adjuster's license through the TDI website before you sign.
If you're interested in learning about license requirements in other states, you can access the 50-state database of Public Adjuster license requirements by state.
